Historic Resemblance Part 1

Edgar leaned into the balustrade, then turned to place his back against it. He was looking directly at her. It was a look that bothered her, one that “tugged at the heartstrings,” as Edgar would say. A guilt-inducing sort of look.

“It’s their land. No matter their excuses, the council can’t dispute that fact. We go there, we take their land. Does that seem right to you?” Edgar asked her.

“No, I suppose not.” She said, placing a hand under her chin in contemplation. “I have suggested we negotiate, but—“

“Stop.” Edgar sighed. She stood to attention. “That is what they want. Our actions carry consequences. It was you who saved me, while the council merely relocated my people to another form of servitude. I know you know this is wrong.”

“Yes, I…”
