Veleria practically ransacked Adrian’s cupboards. She did eventually find a reflective surface in an aging compact. At first, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. In her reflection were not simple green irises, but rather two brilliant golden orbs. Her pupils had narrowed into slits.
In a panic, she palmed the nearest light source, briefly dimming the room. She could easily see her eyes in the compact still, appearing to glow.
Then, she hyperventilated as her chest burned unbearably hot.

She had never seen him so fascinated before. Edgar pointed to the North, his finger aligned with a particularly visible star.
“In that direction?” He asked, an excited grin drawing her in.
She moved closer, took his hand in hers, and moved the target just a bit to the West.
“Somewhere out there, that which you call a star has gone amiss.” She said, returning her hand to her side. Edgar looked back to her, sheepish.
“The idea alone frightens me. That such a being can exist…”
She frowned, “do I frighten you?”

“Honestly, just like I said the last time I was here, I have never seen anything like this before.” With an exasperated sigh, the man pushed back his chair. He gathered his tools—mainly bloodletting devices—then approached Adrian in the doorway. For just a moment, he stole a glance towards Veleria. They had been forced to use gloves just to move the woman, lest they burn their own hands. Most of his syringes had melted, some shattered, when he tried to take blood samples. He was lucky none of it hit him.
Adrian rubbed the back of his neck. He had thrown pants on the moment Meredith ran back into his room, and he hadn’t bothered getting any more decent than that when he saw Veleria out cold on the floor. Without any better ideas, he had Meredith run into town for one of their outfit’s doctors. Arthur was one of the more reliable ones, but Adrian had to grimace at the fact the man still had nothing to offer.
Passing him, Arthur set a hand down on Adrian’s exposed shoulder.
“Listen Giarmund, I know you have good intentions. Between you and me, this girl is beyond you. She needs help from people with real knowledge and expertise.”
“I’m taking her to the elves man, who better—?”
“Cromwell.” Arthur said plainly.
Adrian soured immediately, “don’t even say that fucker’s name in my house.”
“Fine,” Arthur scowled. “This girl is going to get your ass killed.”
He pushed past Adrian, while the latter looked to Veleria just as she began to stir.
